Parent Adolescent Counselling Program (PAC-P)
PAC-P is a home-based, short-term intervention (up to 4 months), which aims to decrease family conflict and improve family functioning, peer relations, and school performance. It is a family-focused intervention and sessions are goal-focused, strength-based, and occur once a week in the family home, community or youth’s natural environment. Interventions are jointly developed to promote and monitor the youth’s success at home, school and in the community.
Inclusionary Criteria:
- Residents of Peel
- Youth, between their 12th and 18th birthday, and their parents/caregivers
- Youth who are experiencing conflict with their parents/caregivers and difficulties across systems, including family, peers, school and/or community
- Youth presenting with several of the following: mental health issues, non-compliant behavior, aggression, truancy, social isolation, low self-esteem, poor socialization skills
- Parents/caregivers who voluntarily agree to participate in a home-based family program
