Family Programs

AYSP offers a number of office-based, home-based and virtual family counselling programs for children and youth, ages 0-17, and their caregivers, who are experiencing mental health challenges and/or behavioural concerns and are in need of support.

Counselling

The Counselling Program provides individual and/or family counselling for children and youth ages 0-17 who are experiencing mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, history of trauma, or struggling with grief and loss, family or peer issues. Sessions are client-centered and goal-focused, and occur in the office and/or virtually. Length of service may be up to 6 months, as determined by client need.

Family Connections

The Family Connections program is an intensive, home-based and/or virtual program which provides support to families in times of crisis. It is a short-term intervention lasting approximately 8-10 weeks, for children and youth ages 0-17 and their parents/caregivers.

Multisystemic Therapy Program (MST)

The MST Program is an intensive, short-term intervention (3-5 months) which involves the whole family. It is a home-based and/or virtual, family-focused treatment which aims to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve family functioning, peer relations, and school performance of youth ages 12-17. Sessions are goal-focused, strength-based, and occur 2+ times a week in the youth’s natural environment.

Parent Adolescent & Child Counselling Program (PACC-P)

The Parent Adolescent & Child Counselling Program is a home-based, short-term intervention (4-6 months) for children and youth, ages 6-17, and their parents/caregivers. PACC-P includes individual counselling for the child/youth, parent/caregiver support and school collaboration, in order to improve the child/youth's problem-solving and coping skills, decrease family conflict, and strengthen relationships at home and at school.

Triple P (Positive Parenting Program)

The Triple P Program, one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs, gives parents/caregivers simple and practical strategies to help build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children/youth’s behaviour and prevent problems from developing. This 10-12-week, home-based and virtual program is for parents/caregivers of youth ages 0-17. Triple P also offers groups for parent/caregivers of children ages 0-12 and teens.
