Youth Mental Health Court Worker
The Youth Mental Health Court Worker (YMHCW) provides referral resources to the Youth Justice Court at the A. Grenville & William Davis Courthouse for transitional aged youth, 16 and 17 years, with mental health issues who are in conflict with the law. The YMHCW establishes contacts with community-based services to divert the young person away from the criminal justice system to mental health resources and services within the community.
Inclusionary Criteria:
- Transitional aged youth, 16 and 17 years, with mental health issues who are in conflict with the law
- Youth with mental health issues, suspected or diagnosed
- Youth involved in the court process at the A. Grenville & William Davis Courthouse
- Youth who voluntarily agree to participate in the program
- Youth whose mental health needs are able to be managed in the community
